Darlene began her bookkeeping career as a data entry clerk for a CPA/Tax Accountant office. For 25 plus years, she worked her way up the corporate ladder through various administrative assistant, accounting, and office management positions. She finally obtained a position as an assistant controller for a public corporation that produced educational children’s products where she worked for 5 years.
Although Darlene enjoys the problem solving nature of accounting, her original major in college was interior design, which really tapped into her true creative side. Since moving to Bend, Darlene could no longer ignore that internal longing of creativeness and had an opportunity to work as an Interior Design Consultant in a retail sales showroom until the economy affected Central Oregon.
Darlene and her husband Bill moved to Bend in 2005 after eighteen years in San Diego, CA. They have been married 37 years and were high school sweethearts. They are blessed with one daughter and sweet 2-1/2 year old grandson. Bill, a drywall contractor for over 25 years, was offered another line of work in the auto sales area. This was during the late nineteen-eighty recession in San Diego and the choice was a no brainer for them. Her husband successfully made a new career for 15 years now and is consistently in the top 5% of the nation’s auto salespersons.
When Darlene is not working she enjoys many outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, down-hill skiing, photography and snow shoeing. Now that there is more time for her, she is enjoying art instruction, music, and reading books.
Additionally, Darlene and her husband have a new addition to the family during their empty nester years! She is a two-year old West Highland Terrier named Lucy. Honestly, she is a Labrador in disguise. She loves all the outdoor activities that Bend has to offer including kayaking. She has captured both of their hearts beyond words.
Finally, at a crossroads in her life, Darlene was led to New Hope Church and a door opened to a sense of belonging and family. Then one week out of the blue a help wanted advertisement appeared in the weekly bulletin. She applied for the position and decided to turn the rest over to God. Knowing that He would see to her needs and lead her where she was most needed at this time. She was offered the position as receptionist/secretary for the administrative team. Darlene feels very blessed to have been given the opportunity to work with such a group of warm-hearted and truly caring individuals. She knows this is not a coincidence and cannot wait to see what He has in store for her!
