 Mark and I have lived in the Bend area for the past twenty-five years. We met at George Fox University, in Newberg, Oregon, where we received our teaching degrees.
We are in the process of parenting five children. Claire is a graduate of George Fox University and now is working in Portland. Ian is a student at Azusa Pacific University in California. Sasha is a senior at Bend High School. Kathleen is a freshman at Bend High School. And Eithan, our kindergartener, is at "Little Steps of Faith home school" with me. Melody Joy was with us briefly, ten years ago May 1998. God's healing grace continues to comfort and teach us to trust in Him and not to lean on our own understanding. He directs our paths one day at a time. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Children delight me. They make me smile and have so much to teach me! I have been actively teaching children God's truths since High School in Canby, Oregon. Some of my favorite scriptures are: Luke 18:16-17 "But Jesus called the children to him and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." Mathew 18:5 "And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me." Also, in Matthew 11:28-30 "Jesus gives us struggling and burdened parents hope by saying: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." What an awesome example our Jesus is!
The entrustment of directing our Nursery is a "yoke" I am happy to share with my beloved Jesus. He has called me to pray scripture over our littlest ones and to prepare a safe place to welcome them each time they enter our doors. Our faithful coordinators, helpful volunteers, and I count it a privilege to come alongside our New Hope parents. We hope to encourage as well as help equip each one in this ardent journey of raising their little ones to God's glory and in His strength.
